KĀNUKA HONEY & LEMON - Cultured Butter 120g
Our Gold medal winning unsalted cultured butter is made by batch churning cream which has been fermented and ripened slowly for at least 170 hours, which gives the creamy tangy taste for which cultured butter is renowned. Our butter is produced in the traditional way that farmhouse butter was always made “back in the day”.
We used to make Mānuka Butter way back when we did the local Farmers' Markets. But after tasting the multi award winning Kānuka honey from the lovely team at Hunt and Gather Bee Co. we knew this was a much better fit with our butter.
We have paired it with Lemon (we don't do anything by half at Bellefield, but you know that already!) to make this into a splendid butter and the lemons are from the garden where our butter kitchen is - so we know exactly where all our ingredients come from in this butter and they are all local, how cool!
This butter was released this year (2022) and already won a Gold Medal at Outstanding NZ Producers Award, was also, in the same competition, finalist for New Product of the Year and finalist for the Dairy category. I believe the judges couldn't stop eating it!
Their suggestions were, "Gorgeous on crumpets, pancakes, new potatoes."
We love it with cooked carrot sautéed in this butter BUT our personal fave - fruit bread toast! Hmmmmmmmm
